Biometric Data Specific Notice. The Meet Group, Inc., on behalf of itself and affiliates, including the brands MeetMe, Skout, Tagged and Yapp (“TMG”) captures, collects, and uses biometric information and identifiers (collectively “Biometric Data”) from selfie video frames and/or government photo IDs that you submit for the purposes of proving human liveness (fighting bots for trust, safety and service integrity purposes), estimating and verifying your age, verifying your profile photo, and compares the Biometric Data collected against other users’ Biometric Data collected within the previous 30 days to prevent duplicate accounts and identity fraud. This Biometric Data Specific Notice is in addition to the TMG Privacy Policy. In the event of any conflict between this notice and data release and the TMG Privacy Policy, this notice and release shall control.

Biometric Data Retention. TMG stores the Biometric Data for approximately 30 days from the date on which you submitted your selfie photo and/or government photo ID, unless or except as required or for trust and safety purposes, unless or except if you should request deletion of personal information, including Biometric Data, in accordance with our privacy policy, after which it permanently destroys the Biometric Data. TMG uses reasonable standards of care, consistent with its industry, to store, transmit, and protect from disclosure your Biometric Data, in a manner that is the same as or more protective than the manner in which it stores, transmits, and protects other confidential and sensitive information.

No Selling, Leasing, or Trading. TMG does not sell, lease, or trade Biometric Data.

No Marketing Uses. TMG does not use Biometric Data for marketing purposes.

Disclosure. Other than as set forth herein, TMG will not disclose, redisclose, or otherwise disseminate Biometric Data unless doing so:

  • Is expressly consented to by you or your legally authorized representative;
  • Completes a financial transaction requested or authorized by you or your legally authorized representative;
  • Is required by state or federal law, or municipal ordinance; or
  • Is required pursuant to a warrant or subpoena issued by a court of competent jurisdiction.

Biometric Data Release. By checking the boxes below and entering your email address, if applicable, you acknowledge you have read and agree to this Biometric Data Notice and that you authorize and agree to TMG’s collection and use of your Biometric Data for the specific purposes. A copy of this notice and release will be sent to the email address that we have on file or that you provide. You further represent and warrant that you are the person whom you purport to be or are otherwise legally authorized and competent to act on their behalf.

Notice and Consent to Electronic Notice and Right to Notice in Writing. TMG provides this electronic disclosure and seeks to obtain your consent to our Biometric Data Notice, Retention and usage policy electronically. You have a right under federal law to receive this information in non-electronic form and you can withdraw your consent to receiving this information electronically at any time, without cost, by writing to support@themeetgroup.com and you may also request this information in writing. You acknowledge that you may need access to a browser, hardware and possibly our app in order to access and view these records. By executing and following the instructions regarding the Biometric Data Release below you acknowledge your receipt of the Biometric Data Specific Notice and your consent and agreement to the specific Biometric Data release below in electronic form.

You can revoke your consent at any time, which does not affect the legality of the processing carried out until the revocation.
